Runoff from livestock barnyards and feedlots can kill fish and cause algae blooms in streams and lakes. Controlling and managing this runoff is the responsibility of every livestock producer. A Vegetative Treatment System (VTS) is an economical and environmentally friendly approach for managing the runoff from barnyards and lots. This fact sheet introduces the use of a VTS and how to evaluate if one is suitable for your farm.
